Appointments are not available for state inspections. Virginia State Police rules make every inspection first-come, first-served. Here's how to make your visit easy.
Virginia State Police rules do not allow inspection stations to take reservations or schedule state inspections for a specific time. Every state inspection is first-come, first-served.
You don't need an appointment to get it done. Here is the easiest way to plan your visit.
Bring it in when we open at 7 AM, Monday to Friday. Dropping off is the easiest way to skip the wait, and we'll have it back to you by end of day.
Our secure locking key drop box is on the front of the building, attached to Bay 3. Fill out one of the envelopes with your contact information and service notes, seal your keys inside, and drop it in. Dropping off the night before gets you the fastest turnaround.
Stickers expire on the last day of the month shown, so the last week of the month and the first week of the next are our busiest. Come mid-month if you can. Inspect early, avoid delays.
Our three licensed inspectors work through vehicles in the order they arrive. We'll get to yours during the day and call you when it's ready.
If it passes, you leave with a new approval sticker the same day. If something fails, you'll get a rejection sticker valid for 15 days and a written estimate before any repair work begins.
The inspection fee is $20. Cash, credit, or debit accepted.
Get here at 7 AM. If you arrive at 10 AM and there are already ten vehicles on the board, you could be looking at a three to four hour wait. That's why we recommend dropping off.
Oil changes, brakes, A/C, and other repairs can be booked online. Book an appointment for any other service here. This page is only for state inspections.
